Job Description: 

DSP (Direct Support Professional)’s provide service to ID/DD (Intellectual or Developmental Disability) individuals in their own homes and communities who need assistance caring for themselves. Care may include assistance with light house cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, transportation and companionship. DSP’s are responsible for ensuring that services are delivered in a caring and respectful manner, in accordance with Thrive Oregon and State of Oregon policies. The hours are flexible depending on your availability and the client’s needs. Once we know your availability and preferred schedule, we will do our best to match you with the right client. 

Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Provide companionship, friendship and emotional support.

  • Talk, listen, share experiences, play games/cards, read to client etc.

  • Help keep clients in contact with family, friends and the outside world.

  • Provide transportation to medical appointments, grocery store and errands.

  • Accompany clients to recreational and/or social events.

  • Teach/assist with meal planning and preparation.

  • Teach/assist with light housekeeping.

  • Ensure service is delivered in accordance with Thrive Oregon's policies, ISP (Individual Support Plan), procedures and industry standards.

  • Complete and maintain records of daily activities, observations, and direct hours of service.

  • Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.

  • Attend in-service training sessions and staff meetings.

  • Physical ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear and see.

  • Current driver’s license or access to public transportation.

  • Proper Vehicle Insurance Coverage, if transporting client.

Position Requirements:

Must be 18 years or older

Pass a background check

First Aid/ CPR certification (Cost will be reimbursed at 3 months employment)

Complete the DSP Core Competencies Abuse Training online course (Instructions will be emailed after receipt of your application)
